I’m Gary Daynes. I live, think, write, and work where local, distinct things encounter big, general ones. I am concerned about what results from the encounter. I’ve created a firm: Back Porch Consulting to do big work for particular entities: small, distinctive organizations and the communities that support them.

BPC’s work is based in two core beliefs: That small, distinctive organizations flourish only when they have a clear vision of why they exist and who they serve. And to fulfill that vision, small distinctive organizations do only the things that clearly connect the people they serve to the vision they uphold. Or put another way: no small, distinct organization ever flourished by trying to be all things to all people.
